| And light Shed on ancient grey But allergic to candles Now - a turn for the worse This plague of shades Further complicated By myopic astigmatism Tight angles fade The view restricted To a serrated blur Nascent spangles and floaters And congested miasma Herald a cruel reversal Less definition - vague entities And bedevilled by illusory insects Blind areas Black holes Blank stares And random aureoles. SCULPTED VEILS Once...drafted a carving From lava, still warm Forms veiled grey now On a frieze The air shimmering Around the head Coheres into halo Wood shavings at the feet Choices that aren't choices now Forces that mock choices stillborn And tiered remorse The once usual sources foreclosed But taut to touch and travel Chisel and cold maps To unravel strange contours Changes frozen in stages And out of tired range No handle on this sculpted tangle Spangles all forlorn.
